Description
At 74 I’m a retiring antique dealer who is beginning to clean out his stock of stored treasures.I purchased this monogramed “JMB” door knob and back plate in Bloomington, Illinois, where I was told it came from the John McBarnes Memorial Building.
A little research revealed that McBarnes was a local farmer who donated 0,000 in the 1920s to erect a Veterans’ Memorial Building which still stands today.
As interesting is the fact that it was built on the site of the Allin-Stipp House which was the first home in Bloomington built in 1829.
I’m not a door knob collector, but I’ve been led to believe that those who are really covet monogramed examples from identified historic structures and this one sure qualifies in my book.
Buyer to pay shipping within the United States.
Due to ebay policies, I reluctantly now have a “no returns” policy, so look closely at photos and ask questions first.
