MONUMENTAL ANTIQUE BRONZE DECORATIVE DOOR HANDLE W/CHERUB&FISH*SARGENT & CO.
Up for your consideration is a magnificent MONUMENTAL Bronze/brass highly decorative door handle! It was produced by Sargent & Company of New Haven Connecticut. Sargent & Co. was founded in 1864 by the Sargent brothers, who entered the hardware business in 1810 in New York, but moved to New Haven for shipping purposes. They helped with the war effort in WWII and the business is still running today. Really a neat piece of history that could be used as found art, or have a lock/mechanism installed for a period build.
Piece is highly decorative with a cherub at base and poseidon/dolphin fish theme at top...lovelly metal tooling all over.
Overall condition: USED but in great overall shape for age, material, and intended use. Surface tarnish is present, but could be buffed for highly polished look...I prefer the "earned appearance."
Overall dimensions: 20" Long x 4" Wide x 3" Deep at handle. The lock hole is 1 1/4" in Diameter.
