    Description

A wonderful collectable piece. From research, it seems to be a rhinoceros buckler or parrying shield, and likely originated in the Horn of Africa or the Arabian peninsula.
It seems to be holding up quite well. I notice one of the two decorative brass symbols has some damage, which you can see in the photos. Very sturdy and quite clean. A solid material, appears to be hide-coated.
It appears strikingly similar to the one in the British Museum (accession number Af1980,35.1 -- screenshot in final photo).
    Measures 9.75 x 9.75 x 5.25-inches. Weighs 2.125 pounds.
