Consider the world's first radio controlled toy, Radicon made a series of radio controlled toys in the late 50's. The most recognized is the bus but they also made a boat, very rare robot, flying saucer and a tank to name a few.
The radio control was based on the 1900's wireless radio. It consisted of a spark gap transmitter and a Coherer type receiver.
The hand held transmitter is a simple induction coil and a spark gap and generated RF noise.
The receiver was just a Coherer and sensitive relay. When it detected a signal, the Coherer would conduct and activate the relay. The relay would then drive a motor or motors.
Since it is a Coherer detector, it was necessary to tap or disturb the detector to break the connection so they mounted the Coherer on a spring pad and a motor would tap the pad to reset the connection. The control was basic, push transmitter once to start the boat, once again to turn left, once again to go straight, once again to got right, again straight and again for off. Then repeat.
This boat appears to have never been used, the battery compartments are like new.
There might have been a cover for the batteries on the boat but I cannot find any reference to it and there was not one in the box.
The cardboard box is very brittle with age.
It has the original operating instructions.
The boat is untested but super neat and rare!
Will be shipped with insurance.
It is large and the shipping will not be cheap.
